The National Rifle Association

Ark-La-Tex Gun Collectors Association supports the National Rifle Association (NRA) and its goals and mission.

The NRA was established in 1871 by Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate. The organization was founded on the goal that it would, as Church put it at the time, “promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis.”

The NRA has grown into a massive organization connecting gun enthusiasts across the country. It consistently provides gun safety education and certification for its members and others. Its goal is to promote the safe and educated use of firearms and protect the right of American citizens to bear arms.

Youth Hunter Education Challenge and Civilian Marksmanship Program

Ark-La-Tex Gun Collectors Association seeks to empower the Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC). We also support the mission of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

The YHEC is the most comprehensive youth hunting program in North America. It’s a program that teaches young hunters outdoor skills and safety training. Open only to individuals who have completed their state or provincial level hunter-safety certification, it is the “graduate studies” class in hunting and wilderness skills. YHEC offers hands-on and immersive learning opportunities for young sportsmen and sportswomen.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is dedicated to training and educating citizens how to responsibly use firearms and air guns. They provide:

  • Safety trainings
  • Marksmanship trainings
  • Marksmanship competitions

These organizations work closely with youth and adult members to encourage personal growth and build life skills.

BPSO Marine Patrol and F.I.R.S.T Chance

Ark-La-Tex Gun Collectors Association also supports local organizations and nonprofits with our gun shows. We support the Bossier Parrish Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol and the nonprofit group Frontline Incident Response Solutions and Training or F.I.R.S.T. Chance.

The Bossier Parrish Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol works hard to make our community safe. We want to honor the men and women who put their lives on the line for our safety, so we provide them with much-needed equipment and supplies.

F.I.R.S.T. Chance is a local nonprofit organization comprised of physicians and police officers serving and protecting their communities. The goal of the organization is to make sure all police officers and citizens are equipped with first-aid kits to be prepared for a first response emergency situation. We help them purchase these first-aid kits so they have the supplies they need to serve others.
